Who we are

HMS Credit Services is a Kalamazoo-based reseller of consumer information, including credit reports and nationwide criminal background reports. Use our services to manage risk and make an informed decision before hiring a precarious employee or leasing to a deadbeat tenant. Our parent company, HMS Companies Inc., has managed properties for over 25 years, so we are keenly aware of the information property managers and employers need to be successful. We can bundle several reports into one comprehensive, cost-effective report or sell reports individually.

Who we service

We service anybody with a permissible purpose to obtain credit reports and other consumer information. Our current customers include government agencies, property managers, employers and insurance underwriters.

How to become a member

Submit your membership application here. The application fee is $25 and is non-refundable. Review the registration page carefully to make sure you qualify for membership.

Please be aware that some members need to pass a federally-mandated site inspection of their office place before receiving credit reports and other FCRA-governed information. Site inspections cost $75 and can be scheduled at your convenience. We help our members prepare for and pass site inspections with ease.

What is the FCRA

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regulates the use of consumer information. A recent amendment to the law tightened access to consumer reports in an effort to minimize identity theft. Consequently, most users of credit reports need to undergo a site inspection to verify that they comply with FCRA regulation.

Government agencies and members who operate their business from a home-office can qualify to bypass site inspection. Also, the FCRA does not regulate every report we can sell, meaning not all of our customers will need to undergo a site inspection. Contact us to learn whether or not one will be required.
